George Callahan was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an ultra marathon runner and fiction writer; his books often draw on principles of ultra marathon running: adventure, purpose, community, and challenge. Other inspirations include lyrical music, whimsical television shows, and writers such as Ernest Hemingway.
Green and Purple Birds with Bright Orange Feet, George’s first novel, deals primarily with the issues of addiction and possession in a world full of natural sensation. Like many of George’s books, it is an appeal for thoughtfulness and curiosity.
Readers of adventure novels, romance, quests, and allegorical fiction will enjoy the characters and stories George creates in writing.
George lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his dog, Cowboy.
